Background

Can a fiction content team design stories that feel more lived than imagined?

Colors Bangla has long played the role of challenger in West Bengal’s regional entertainment market trailing behind leaders like Star Jalsha and Zee Bangla. Through our collaboration, the team wanted to go beyond TRP tactics and surface unmet emotional drivers that could unlock new avenues for growth.

Approach

A 6-month hands-on journey with the Colors Bangla team to embed Design Thinking into their show development process

  • Kicked off with a Design Thinking 101 to introduce tools like user interviews, journey maps, and synthesis
  • The team conducted field research across urban and rural Bengal entering kitchens, courtyards, and living rooms
  • Over multiple sprints, the team transformed raw user insight into audience archetypes, prototypes, and audio-storyboards

Each iteration was tested with real viewers to refine concepts before pilot development

Key Strategic Lever

Output

  • Teams created 3 show prototypes rooted in real user personas
  • Integrated viewer feedback before pitching to leadership
  • Show concepts reflected sharper realism, emotional layering, and untapped themes
  • Process embedded empathy as a muscle, not a one-time method
